On Wednesday last week, September 23, Elyn Casim who arrived in NAIA Terminal 3 from Kuwait was scheduled for a connecting flight to General Santos City but wasn't able to take her flight after she discovered that she accidentally left her backpack at the X-Ray Machine of the airport. When she returned to claim the backpack, Casim was told by the security personnel on duty that they don't know where that backpack was.
However when the security cameras were checked the next day after Casim reported the incident to airport authrities, the footage revealed that a lady luggage checker discovered Casim's backpack, placed it on top of the X-Ray machine and was taken by another security officer.
On Tuesday, the Airport Police Department has filed a Qualified Theft case against the three security personnel identified as Glavin Cano, Analiza Monda and Julius Flores.
"Nasasaktan po ako sir, kasi pinaghirapan ko yan tapos iba ang nagpapakasarap (It hurts me, Sir, because I worked hard for that and it's only others who will benefit from it.)," Casim told ABS-CBN News.
The Office of the Transportation Security has refused to comment about the status of the three security employees who are now facing charges but told ABS-CBN News that they are seriously looking at the issue and are on top of the matter.
The backpack of the returning OFW contained an estimated amount of Php.50,000.00 worth of cash and jewelry.
