BANGKOK, THAILAND. In an attempt to realize Thailand's goal to reach 28.8 million international arrivals this year, the country's Tourism Authority launched a "buy one get one free room promo at 32 hotels in Bangkok and Phuket.

On Monday (September 21), the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Deputy Governor, Juthaorn Rerngronasa told Bangkok Post that the campaign would run from September 22 to October 31 with 15 hotels in Bangkok and 17 hotels in Phuket participating in the campaign.

This newest tourism campaign, "Thailand Stronger Together" also targets to earn 1.4 trillion baht in tourism-related revenue, Mrs. Jutaphorn said.

In the wake of Erawan bombing in Bangkok which claimed 20 lives and hurt 130 others on August 17, more than 20 countries have issued travel advisories and warnings about traveling to Thailand. Reports say, tour operators and hotels have reported cancellations. The Tourism and Sports Ministry have estimated a 63.4 million baht defecit in tourism earnings because of the loss of at least 1.33 million tourists.

Mrs. Juthaporn said the campaign is targetting visitors from Asian and Middle East countries and added that Bangkok and Phuket are selected for this promotion because they are popular among foreign tourists.
