BANGKOK, THAILAND. Facebook, the world's largest social media network and Thailand's national pastime launched its first office in Thailand on Thursday in Bangkok, Coconuts Bangkok reported.
Dan Neary, Vice President of Facebook Asia Pacific, told The Nation the company had set its new offices in Thailand to take advantage of the fast-growing use of social media in the country.
"The opening affirms our commitment to Thailand and reiterates our investment in supporting the growth of Thai business, and making it easier for consumers to connect with each other and business," Neary said.
In the launching, Facebook also announced to activate advertising via instagram.
Currently, Thailand has the most active users of Facebook in Southeast Asia with at least 37 million active users every month.
Reports say 94 percent of Thais use mobile phones to access Facebook while 70 percent contact with businesses via Facebook pages.
While the actual location of the office remains undisclosed, it is said to be in Bangkok's central business district.
The company is still searching for a manager to oversee the operations in Thailand, reports said.
