MANILA, PHILIPPINES. The team of primary students from the Philippines scored 69 medals and placed overall second in the medal tally in the 2015 China Primary Mathematics  Olympiad held in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang, China on July 27-30, 2015.

China won as the overall winner this year. The Philippines came second followed by Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan and Macau. 

Pleased with the results of the competition, the president of the Mathematics Trainers Guild Philippines (MTG), Simon Chua, expressed his commitment to continue training students for international math competitions.

According to DepEd Advisory No. 192, s. 2015, more Mathematics competitions will happen within this month and in the following months. 

China Girls' Mathematics Olympiad will happen on August 10-14 at Guangzhou, China; Western China Mathematics Olympiad Competition on August 14-17 in Yinchuan, China;  Singapore International Mathematics Olympiad Competition on August 14-17 in Singapore; Challenge of Future Mathematicians on October 26-29 in Tagaytay, Philippines; International Mathematics and Science Olympiad on November 1-7 in Bangkok, Thailand and the International Teenagers Mathematics Olympiad on December 10-13 in Kedah, Malaysia.
