BANGKOK, THAILAND. Mochit Bus Terminal aka Bangkok Bus Terminal will be moved to Rangsit in two years time according to transport ministry officials.
The proposed new bus terminal in Rangsit is expected to be within the vicinity of Thammasat University Rangsit Campus in an 80 rai (12.8 hectares) piece of land. It will serve long distant travel destinations in the North and Northeastern part of Thailand by 2018 after its completion target in 2017.
Meanwhile, Thai PBS reported that the present bus terminal in Mochit will be downsized to a quarter of its size to accommodate local, short distance bus services within 300 kilometers.
The new bus terminal is estimated to cost around four billion baht but the company is currently doing reassessment after the original plan of 150 rai (24 hectares) was reduced to 80 rai (12.8 hectares).
Final plans are subject to board approval within this month and will later be forwarded to the transport ministry for confirmation.
