BUTUAN CITY, PHILIPPINES. A strong earthquake shook parts of Mindanao particularly in Caraga Region and Davao City and other parts of Eastern Visayas at around 2:43 p.m. July 3, Friday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

On its website, Phivolcs said that the quake's epicenter was traced at 41 kilometers northeast of Burgos town in Surigao del Norte with 6.1 magnitude.

In Phivolcs list, the quake also hit the following areas: Surigao City; Siargao Island; Talacogon, Agusan del Sur; and Carascal, Surigao del Sur - Intensity 5; Dinagat Islands - Intensity 4; San Juan, Southern Leyte; Tacloban, Leyte; Palo, Leyte; Lapulapu City - Intensity 3 and in Bislig Surigao del Sur; Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur; Davao City - Intensity 2.

No damage has been reported according to Phivolcs, however aftershocks are to be expected.
