MANILA, PHILIPPINES. The salary increase for public school teachers all over the country is about to happen, Education Secretary Armin Luistro said yesterday, July 14 at the Joint Grand Summit on Senior High School held in Albay province.

Luistro confirmed that the cabinet is now deliberating the salary standardization of all government employees. He also said that teachers will get the highest wage hike among all other government workers. 

Early this month, President Benigno Aquino III has approved the Three Trillion national budget for 2016 with the Department of Education  taking the biggest allocation of PhP 436.5 billion pesos. 

Part of the PhP 436.5 billion DepEd budget is the salary increase for public elementary and secondary school teachers and non-teaching staff nationwide. 

According to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the proposed entry pay of Teacher 1 Level will be PhP 29,800 and PhP 16,000 for the non-teaching personnel.
