Last week was my first time to join the annual gathering of the government schools with English Program in the Northern part of Thailand as coach of the Story Telling Contest, one of the categories in this  battle of brains and skills held in Chiang Mai Province. Other categories included Spelling Bee, Skit, General Knowledge, Singing Contest, Sudoku and Science and Math Projects Display.

This year's contest for story telling was quite unique because the organizers specifically stipulated in their memo that stories should all be coming from ASEAN countries and the real challenge was that instead of the usual one, two to four story tellers were required to tell the story.

I picked the famous Philippine folktale - Ang Alamat ng Pinya (The Legend of Pineapple) and did a little revision to make the story more interesting and luckily, from a total of 18 competing schools, my students grabbed the Second Place

Here's a video of their performance.

Congratulations again Pupae, Mae, First and Shampoo. Teacher Enzo is so proud of you. Thank you Teacher Leah for this video.

  2. Wow! I love the marriage of the two stories - The Legend of Pineapple and Bruhahahahihihi - in this piece. Would be taken aback if this would not get any place. I also salute the touch of Filipino features in the story. A masterpiece, indeed! It is yet another achievement of a person, an educator as I am, who continues to inspire me all the way through my teaching trail. Congratulations Kuya Lorenzo! So proud of you.
