I Love You, Goodbye

It's just that no matter how we want a relationship to work, when it is not meant to be, never will it ever be. It has to come to the moment of saying " I Love You, Goodbye" which is a way of letting go, setting someone free, and moving on.

I have come to appreciate every word of this song when I went through a failed long distance relationship  in the middle of last year. A friend forwarded this video to me and I felt every line was all I want to express. Sad, very pathetic as a matter of fact yet it served me well. It helped me in coming to terms with the reality that some things will never  work out and that I have to release...give up.

Pain. It will always be there. Why? It will always be part of the process as we are all prone to feel this emotion. We are humans and because we are, sooner or later we will learn to forget as well. The healing process would relatively vary from one person to another, yet again, I  guess, things will all depend upon us whether we choose to dwell in such a painful state or set it aside and move ahead.

Tribute

ECSCI Class of 2011
There were 11 of them  in my freshman advisory class four years ago - Rica, Myles, Krizza, Joannah, Marga, Mark, BJ, Justin, Joshua, Saidali and Marvin. It was the time when they have yet to decide how to behave in high school being "freshies". I still remember getting so annoyed in my class before because of their so childish behaviors.  Then, I saw them move from one level to the next. Two boys were added to the group - JR and Jed. On their Junior year, three (Rica, JR and Jed) moved out leaving only 9 of them to spend what would be their first JS Prom experience.

Yesterday was to be their last day as high school students. They marched on the red carpet to receive their certificates. Ten of them including JR (returnee) graduated with flying colors in front of their proud parents and teachers in Enfant Cheri. I could only say - CONGRATULATIONS once again.

Among the ten, Marga would be one of those whom I held dear as she has been with me since her elementary days because of Journalism. It continued until high school with all her other extra curricular activities such as the oratorical contest in BCWD, the modeling audition in Topland, and the many school based activities which she could not help but be the lead.  Yesterday, she delivered a very beautiful thanksgiving speech for her family, friends and teachers and surprisingly, including me.

I wish to share an excerpt of it.
To my teachers, TEACHERS, I LOVE YOU. You guys are actually sort of my big sisters and brothers. You appreciate me and act like my friends and that’s what I love so much about you! You are the best teachers in the WHOLE UNIVERSE.
To Sir Lorenzo who has been a great part of my life, although he is not here, I thank him for seeing a light in me – a light that lead to inspiring people and expressing myself through writing. I didn’t know I had it in me, ‘til I met him. He is one of my best teacher friends. I love you Sir Lor!
This is simply moving and I appreciate it a lot Marga. My warmest congratulations to you all.

Proud Uncle

Tito's Girls. Langlang, Honey and Lorebel.
Last Friday I received an unexpected text message from my niece – Langlang  telling me that she and Honey will be finishing school with honors. That news just made my day considering that last month I was totally disheartened with a very disappointing news involving another niece whom I expected to graduate from high school this month. The Phlegmatic

The phlegmatic is best characterized by the words "easy going". He is the calm and steady person who is not easily disturbed. He is the easiest temperament type to get along with. Life for him is happy, unexcited and calm. Underneath the calm exterior, the phlegmatic is the most timid temperament type. He often uses humor to make his points. The phlegmatic is more an observer and does not involve himself in the activities of others.
Phlegmatics make excellent teachers, counselors and administrators. They are very dependable and organized and, while they never volunteer, they make good group leaders.

The weakness of a phlegmatic include lack of motivation or even laziness; they appear to lack drive and ambition. A phlegmatic needs to realize that he is not internally motivated and take up activities that force him into action. The phlegmatic is self-protective and may be selfish. He is often very stubborn, though it is hidden beneath his mild-mannered style. He is also the most fearful of temperaments.

After defining each temperament in "black and white" we must look realize that no one is completely one temperament type. Each of us is a blend of usually two and occasionally 3 types. One temperament type is dominant and one is secondary. And don't forget that training, lifestyle, upbringing and other circumstances may have forced an individual to function "off style". The saddest people I have seen are those who have "put on" a style that is not theirs naturally for so long that it has become a habitual way of life

The Melancholic

The melancholy is an introverted temperament type. His natural style is analytical and perfectionist. He is the most moody of types ranging from highly "up" to gloomy and depressed. During his low periods he can be very antagonistic and does not make friends easily. He is the most dependable of the temperaments due to his perfectionist tendencies. His analytical ability allows him to accurately diagnose obstacles and problems, which often keep him from making changes - he prefers the status quo and may seem overly pessimistic.

He may choose a difficult life vocation involving personal sacrifice. Many melancholies become doctors or scientists or artists. Their interpersonal style can be critical and negative. He tends to be more indecisive than other types. They have difficulty giving praise and approval because they cannot bring themselves to say something that is not 100% true. They also are usually dissatisfied with themselves being highly self-critical.

Other weaknesses include being "thin skinned" or touchy and easily offended. He often feels persecuted and may seek revenge for real or imagined insults. He tends to be "all or nothing" in his evaluation of things; everything must be black or white and no shades of gray. He is least likely to consider mitigating circumstances when evaluating a person or situation. No temperament is more likely to be legalistic and rigid. He can be intolerant and impatient with those who do not see things his way.

The Cholerics

This is a sequel to my previous post about the Temperament and Personality.  Now, I am presenting to you - The Choleric.

The choleric is the most forceful and active of the four types. He is strong-willed and independent and opinionated. The choleric thrives on activity. He is the most practical and makes sound, quick decisions. He is not afraid of obstacles and tends to drive right through or over problems. He is probably the strongest natural leader of the four types. He has the most problem with anger and does not display compassion easily. He is quick to recognize opportunities and quick to capitalize on them - though details irritate him and, unless he learns to delegate, he will often gloss over details. His strong will and determination may drive him to succeed where more gifted people give up.

The choleric is a developer and may be seen in construction supervision or coaching or law enforcement. Most entrepreneurs are choleric. Because of their impatience they often end up doing everything themselves. A choleric is extremely goal/task oriented in leading others. His biggest weakness as a leader is a tendency to run right over people if he feels they are in his way. He assumes that approval and encouragement will lead others to slack off and he probably finds criticism and faultfinding more useful for his purposes. Through his natural determination he may succeed where others may give up.

A choleric's weaknesses include anger and hostility. A choleric is the most likely to have an active temper; he is a door slammer and horn blower and he can carry a grudge for a long time. This includes a cutting and sarcastic tongue and the choleric will rarely hesitate to tell someone off. The choleric is the least likely to show affection or any public show of emotion. His emotions are the lease developed of all the temperaments. Additionally a choleric can be inconsiderate, opinionated and crafty in getting their own way.

The Super Sanguine

In our Bible Study tonight, we were able to have a little bit of shift to the theories of Psychology in relation to the topic - The Different Personalities of the Saints. Bro. Reggie made a quick review of the different Human Temperaments and Personalities such as: The Sanguine, The Choleric, The Melancholic and The Phlegmatic.

Again, I have realized that knowing our own and other people's temperament will better equip us in handling interpersonal relationships as we have come to know our own strengths and weaknesses. This will also help us understand why others behave the way they do.

So, I'm also sharing what I have reviewed today. I'll start with;

THE SANGUINE - The Superstars
The Sanguine is receptive by nature and outgoing. He is usually called a 'super-extrovert'. This temperament is usually thought of as a "natural salesman" but they also tend to enter professions that are outgoing such as acting.

He "leads into a room with his mouth" and is never at a loss for words. His outgoing nature makes him the envy of more timid temperament types. He is most comfortable around people and does not like being alone. He is often known as a "toucher"; reaching out and touching the arm or shoulder of the person he is talking with. This can make more introverted temperaments nervous and uncomfortable.

His energy can make him seem more confident than he actually is and his cheery disposition often cause others to excuse his weaknesses by saying, "That's just how he is". The sanguine is mostly a happy person whom others are glad to have around.

The weakness of the sanguine include a lack of discipline which can be expressed in many ways - including a generally "messy" lifestyle or overeating. The sanguine is the most emotional of the temperaments and can burst into tears or a rage without warning. These "bursts" are usually over as fast as they occur but this lack of emotional consistency can affect other areas of his life. He may be "morally flexible" and may take advantage of others via his good nature.

A sanguine's tremendous personal talents can be made or broken by his lack of self-discipline.

A Cold and Busy Day

It has been raining here since yesterday and the temperature dramatically dropped down from 30 Degree Celsius or something to 16 Degrees with constant rainfall and freezing wind. It's ironic that just as Summer makes its way down here, Winter stages a comeback with vengeance so to speak.

In times like this, one normally wants to do nothing but curl under his comforter and sleep the day away or huddle in front of the TV set, watch some really good films while sipping some hot soup or coffee. A rainy Thursday should have been a lazy day but (thankfully/unfortunately) not for me.

Ironically again, I was in the classroom from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM doing straight classes with only 15-minute break for lunch. Technically, it was without lunch-break time but I just dismissed my student early so I can grab a quick bite at the nearby food court then back again for another three-hour session with another set of students.  My day was not yet to end because I had to move to another venue for another 1-hour session with another kid at 5:00 to 6:00 PM. That is simply hard work even during rainy days and I bet I have just defeated the "ants" in this industry story. I call it ironic because, this never happens during regular school days for at least most of the Filipino teachers here in Thailand.

Well, the best thing I like about working during wet season is that I don't actually sweat and I get this cool feeling all throughout the day. The students are kept in their seat hugging themselves for warmth so I don't get any high blood pressures just at least once in a while. The only downside is that I needed to go to the urinals like every after 15 minutes which is totally irritating.

Nonetheless, this day has been a great cold day and THANKFULLY, a busy day too.

I'm Back!

Breaking up another shell. (Google Images)
I lost track of this blog site for few days now because I got a little problem when I tried to purchase my own domain for this. I was instructed to wait for only three days before the transition would happen but three days after, I can no longer open this blog totally.

So, I returned to blogspot and thankfully, I'm in again. I am trying to give this site a new face and a fresher look while eliminating those stuffs at the side page to make it appear more tidy.

I kinda miss sharing my points here. I'm welcoming myself back to my hub.
